The ERASMUS+ project ”Building School-Wide Inclusive, Positive and Equitable Learning Environments through a Systems-Change Approach” (SWPBS) (Project no 606687-EPP-1-2018-2-CY-EPPKA3-PI-POLICY, Key Action 3, Support for policy reform) takes another step towards the end of the second year of implementation, this time against the background of the COVID-19 pandemic which has led to unprecedented changes in the education (and not only) systems of the partner countries. Under the coordination of CARDET (Cyprus) and in collaboration with various public education authorities from the project consortium, the SWPBS partners have endeavoured to build and strengthen a positive and non-discriminatory online environment within the schools involved in the project by encouraging the expected social behaviours. In Romania, in December 2020-April 2021, in collaboration with the Arges School Inspectorate and with permanent support from CARDET, the coaches from the University of Pitesti are implementing online training sessions designed to familiarize the School Leadership Teams with the 8 elements of primary prevention. In this regard, the coaches presented schools with a Guide on Using PBIS in the Context of Online Learning which demonstrates that the same practices used by teachers during their face-to-face lesson can be used online to fulfil the purpose of implementing the SWPBS project, i.e. the increase of positive behavioural patterns and the decrease of problem social behaviours. Schools have confirmed the usefulness of the material and the need for such a tool in managing the transition of the teaching act to the online environment.
School materials and other information on the implementation of the SWPBS project can be found on the project website.
